At A Court Held of the County of Southampton On Thursday The 8 Day Of November 1753 This Writing Was proved by the Oath Of Saml Atkinson a Witness thereto and At A Court held of the said County On Thursday the 13 Day Of December 1753 The Same Was further proved by the Oath of Wm Bynum another of the Witnesses thereto and It was Ordered that the Widow of the Testator be summoned to declare Whither she will administer with this writing annexed there being no Ex'or named therein Test R Kello Clk At a Court held of the County of Southampton on Thursday the 10th Day of January 1754. On the Motion of Ann Rotchell Widow & Relict of John Rotchell dec’d who made Oath according to Law Certificate is granted her for obtaining Letters of Administration on the Estate of the said John with his Will annexed she ~ giving Security Test R Kello Clk [In The Left Margin] John Johnson's Will in the name of God Amen this twenty ninth Day of November In the year of our lord God one thousand seven hundred and fifty two I John Johnson of Southampton County being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore Calling unto mind the mortality of my body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I Command it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form ~av~ [In the left margin] 137/ Item: I give to my beloved son Daniel Johnson one hundred and twenty five acres of land being apattent of the like quantity I give it to him and his Disposeing I alse give him one feather Bed. one pewter dish and two - Pewter plates. . Item I give to my beloved son Lazarus Johnson the Plantation I now live on with one hundred acres of land thereunto belonging I give it to him and his Disposeing.
